iPhone system updates – 2021 iOS flurry

Are you getting annoyed at the constant nags to update your iPhone? Is it worth all the time it takes to process – to download-check-install and reboot your device?

If you’re getting notices the last month or so that yet another iOS update is available for your iPhone, then you’re not alone. I was getting tired as well with the flurry this year: iOS 14.4, 14.4.1, 14.5, 14.5.1, 14.6.

And this week iOS 15 was announced – likely for release in the fall!

So, I was glad to see an article last month speaking to this round of yet-again’s.

• ZD Net > “Apple says it’s time to update your iPhone … again” by Adrian Kingsley-Hughes (May 25, 2021) – iOS 14.6 is out, and there are a bunch of new features, as well as a lot of bug fixes.

(quote) Does it feel like you’ve been updating your iPhone continuously for weeks now? That’s because you have! And now iOS 14.5 has given way to iOS 14.6, so it’s time to go through the whole process again.

New features and bug fixes and security fixes – à la “Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!” [1]

And if you’ve got an iPad or Apple Watch … more releases, more fun, eh.
