The Redondo Beach Police Department will host a Community Safety Fair and Police Department Open House at the Civic Center and Police Facility on Sunday, October 1, 2006, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event will feature tours of the Police Station, static displays of police equipment and fire apparatus, safety and crime prevention exhibitions, entertainment, and food -- all free of charge to the public. To add to the fun, there will be a Mini Fun-Fest sponsored by the Redondo Beach Recreation and Community Services Department.
This will be the eleventh annual event of its type in Redondo Beach. This event has hosted thousands of visitors over the past several years. As part of the Community Oriented Policing philosophy, the Police Department's doors will be open to the public. Everybody is invited to tour the police facility and enjoy the activities at the Safety Fair. There will be numerous photo opportunities.
The activities will be fun and educational. The Fire Department and components of the Police Department such as K-9 will present displays and exhibits. Vendors will display personal safety and crime prevention technology. The Safety Fair is the "kick-off" event for Fire Prevention Week and designating October as Crime Prevention Month.
The Civic Center and the Police Department are located at the northwest corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Diamond Street in Redondo Beach. For further information, please call (310) 937-6655.
